The Burmese cat is a very unique animal.   They are the most people-loving animals I have ever known.  They were first introduced to the United States in the 1930's, by a ship board doctor.  He brought a a dark brown female back from Burma, named Wong Mau,  intending to breed her.  As he had no male,  he had to line-breed starting with a Siamese male.  Most Burmese cats in North America all contain Wong Mau in their ancestry, although other Burmese have been imported since.  These cats are very intelligent and can be taught to fetch and other tricks.  They are  totally devoted to their human friends and are very affectionate.  They are an active cat and like to have your attention often.   They are often referred to as "velcro cats", because they are very attached to their human companions.
